Internship & Applied Metapsychology International Certification/Accreditation
You've taken one or more TIR and Life Stress Reduction Workshops...
Because of the unique session protocol and techniques of Applied Metapsychology, after having completed basic training in any technique, or set of techniques, it is highly recommended that you consider furthering your training and abilities as a facilitator by entering into an internship with your trainer. Internships can be conducted long distance for those who do not live close to a Certified Trainer using a combination of phone, fax, email, etc. (In working long distance we of course need to take care to protect client confidentiality.)

Why Complete an Internship: Either toward Certification/Accreditation by AMI or for the inherent value of the Internship itself?
A newly trained facilitator goes into session with the techniques, the Rules of Facilitation, enhanced communication skills, and a basic understanding of how and why the techniques they are using work, but is still a novice at applying the techniques.
Supervision by a Certified/Accredited Trainer during an internship provides ongoing feedback, help with case plans to meet the needs of your individual viewers, and the opportunity to use and improve your skills. After a fair amount of supervised session experience, the novice facilitator may quickly move from novice to advanced beginner, where you begin to use overall strategies instead of just rules. For example, you may gain certainty in assessing ego strength, environmental distractions, and knowing when to get more data before proceeding with TIR. After an internship, a facilitator should be able to deliver consistently successful sessions.
Internships are a good way to quickly advance from novice to advanced beginner, and then, with further experience, to become competent, proficient, and, finally, expert. Feedback has shown that compassion fatigue, often experienced by those in the helping professions, is not an issue for an expert facilitator because sessions almost always go to a satisfying end point for the viewer, enabling the facilitator to know each session that progress has been made.
Internships are offered by most Certified/Accredited Trainers. An internship includes session-by-session supervision (technical direction) as needed and enhances a facilitator's ability to follow the structured session protocol that is essential in the success of an Applied Metapsychology sessions. A technical director can help to repair a difficult session, while at the same time giving the facilitator any additional data needed in order to be successful in future sessions. This arrangement benefits the facilitator, who learns from mistakes, and the viewer (client), whose difficulty is overcome.
The rewards of interning include increased certainty in using your tools, a deeper understanding of the basics of Applied Metapsychology, and even better and faster results for your clients.
The Applied Metapsychology International Certification/Accreditation Program for Facilitators and Trainers
(The word "certification" means different things in different parts of the world. In the United Kingdom and other Commonwealth countries, "accreditation" is the word that means what "certification" means in North America. As we are an international organization we include the use of both words, to represent the meaning they have in these different cultures. An individual representing themselves as such may then use the word which applies in their location.)
If you wish to become Certified/Accredited, then once you have done the TIR Workshop your next step is to talk with your trainer about doing an internship. You will be meeting regularly, or communicating by phone, fax, etc., for supervision as you work with clients. Regular supervision will ensure that you are getting the best value from your internship. Your questions will be answered as you go along and you will get help in deciding which techniques to use and in what order to get the best results for your clients.
You will keep a log of successful session hours, which will be part of your application for Certification/Accreditation and will be reviewed by AMI's Certification/Accreditation Committee. You will make at least one, but probably a few recordings of actual sessions to go over with your trainer. As well as being a great learning opportunity, you will also be working with your trainer to select a recording which may be submitted as another of the application requirements.
Facilitator internships have no set length. When all the application requirements have been completed, the application may be submitted to the AMI Certification/Accreditation Committee.
As with all TIR-related professional skills workshops, instructors set their own fees for the internships they deliver. Fees vary from instructor to instructor; however, all TIR-related workshops and internships delivered by certified instructors and technical directors must meet the strict standards set by Applied Metapsychology International.
There are Three Levels of Certification/Accreditation Available for Facilitators:
Other forms for Facilitator Certification/Accreditation Internships:
Certification/Accreditation as a Trainer
Just as facilitators complete an internships to become Certified/Accredited, their trainer has also completed another type of internship in becoming a Certified/Accredited Trainer.
If you are interested in training as a trainer, your first step is to work on Certification/Accreditation as a facilitator and to talk with your trainer about your desire to be a trainer as well. Trainer training is structured as an apprenticeship that will have you observing a workshop, then co-leading and leading workshops until you have met all the requirements to apply, including that both your and your trainer have confidence in your ability to handle all aspects of delivering a successful workshop, from both the technical and administrative sides. If you trainer is Certified/Accredited to oversee your training (see below) they will be able to organize an apprenticeship that will work for both of you, and if not they will be able to refer you to their own trainer, or another trainer who can.
